An Accra High Court has ordered Ghanaian musician Michael Owusu Addo, nicknamed Sarkodie, to testify against Kantanka Automobile and one Jude Osei in a lawsuit involving Kantanka Automobile.

The rapper had information of a deal involving Kantanka Automobile and the complainant Jude Osei, according to the writ.

Sarkodie has been summoned to court on July 14.

A lawsuit has been filed against Kantanka Automobile and Kwadwo Safo Jnr. for a failed social media promise made via the username kantanka daily.

Plaintiff Jude Osei claimed in a writ filed on May 14, 2019, that he received a private message from Kantaka Automobile telling him to share an image of a Kantaka Automobile car on Twitter and that he would be awarded with a Kantanka Mensa automobile if he managed to obtain 30,000 retweets.

Jude Osei was able to reach 30,000 retweets after almost a year. He then sent a message to Kantanka asking for his prize, but around the same time, Kantanka Automobile released a disclaimer stating that any tweet providing Kantanka Mensa in exchange for 30,000 retweets should be considered a scam.

Jude Osei went to court after being enraged by the company’s silence and failure to publish a disclaimer for almost a year, but only after he had amassed the required number of retweets.

Felix Nana Osei, Jude Osei’s lawyer, maintained that the account is not fraudulent because it was once used to tweet a message to Ghanaian artist Sarkodie, to which the rapper responded.

Kwadwo Kantanka Jnr., who has the same Twitter handle as Kantanka daily, also retweeted the tweet.

He also claims that the corporation should not have delayed over a year to provide a disclaimer, even if the account was fraudulent.

They are however demanding: A declaration that at all material times the Defendants caused, allowed and or permitted me @kantanka daily Twitter account to carry itself as an agent of the 1st Defendant, damages for breach of contract and a declaration that @kantanka_daily entered into a valid contract with the Plaintiff to the knowledge of the Defendants among others.
