Popular American rapper Kanye West was never in Ghana, despite widespread rumors to the contrary that he was there.

According to rumors from last week, Kanye West, popularly known as Ye, was said to make a surprise appearance at the Black Star Line Festival on Friday night.

DJ Ebenezer Donkoh, who originally spread the rumor about Ye visiting Ghana, claimed that Ye was planning to travel to the continent and perform at a festival in Accra that was being put up by his pals and fellow Chicagoans Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper.

On January 5, he tweeted, “I’m receiving word that Kanye West will be the surprise act at the Black Star Line Festival in Ghana this weekend.”
