Man drops dead during an Akpeteshie drinking competition

During an Akpeteshie drinking challenge at Subin near Dunkwa in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality District of the Central Region, a 40-year-old man fell and died on the scene.

According to police investigators, Kofi Hohoe, 40, and Kojo Gameli, 30, both Subin locals, went to Kojo Kontoh’s drinking area in Compound, a Subin suburb, and engaged each other in a local gin(akpeteshie) drinking battle.

Kofi Hohoe passed out during the drinking challenge, while Kojo Gameli was also extremely inebriated.

The proprietor of the location where they were hospitalized for treatment hurried both victims to Subin Health Center.

Kofi Hohoe died while undergoing treatment at the Health Center on the same day at 7 p.m., but Kojo Gameli is still on admission and responding to treatment.

The body has now been investigated by police, who claim no signs of violence or foul play were discovered.

It was afterwards deposited in the mortuary of the Dunkwa-on-Offin Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
