Naira Marley, a Nigerian rapper, has expressed his willingness to work with law enforcement on an investigation into his suspected role in Mohbad‘s death.
He has, however, set down a fundamental requirement: security organizations must ensure his protection.
The current dispute center on claims that Naira Marley supported people who allegedly threatened and harassed Mohbad when the singer abruptly left Naira Marley’s record label, Marlian Music, in 2022.

Calls for a probe into Naira Marley’s involvement in Mohbad’s premature death have been sparked by these allegations.
Naira Marley addressed the situation in an interview with Reno Omokri on Wednesday night, saying he was willing to cooperate with an investigation—but only if his safety could be guaranteed.
He acknowledged that he had left Nigeria on August 31, 2023, and that he had found out about Mohbad’s passing on social media.
“Two, He [Mohbad] has left Marlian Music since… I don’t know the particular date but since 2022, he has left Marlian Music. We’ve not stopped him from dropping music or anything. He has been working with one PR [firm] or something like that ever since,” he said.

When Naira Marley learned of Mohbad’s passing, she expressed astonishment and anguish and fiercely denied any role in the unfortunate incident, saying, “If you’re blaming me, how did I kill him? I had nothing to do with his passing at all.
The rapper reaffirmed his dedication to the truth and demanded attention be paid to examining the circumstances behind Mohbad’s passing, while highlighting his own lack of responsibility.
“I am willing to return to Nigeria to answer questions if the police can guarantee my safety.”
He also vehemently denied any association with a cult, stating, “I don’t belong to any cult. I don’t know what a cult is. I have been running away from all these people. I’m actually anti-cult.”
