Policeman scams MTN momo vendor of over Ghc14k

A policeman is currently in spending his time in cells after he was arrested for defrauding a momo vendor of over Ghc14k.

The policeman identified as Constable Ernest Agyemang Darko is said to be with the National visibility Unit of the Ghana Police Service.

According to a source, the police man walked into the Kasoa branch of MTN Ghana to transact on his momo and he was attended to by one of their staffs.

He told them he needed to a transaction of Ghc14,460 but after it was done, he failed to provide the said amount which raised a red flag.

He later told them he had money in his GCB account and would be grateful if they follow him to the bank so he could withdraw the money for them since he had enough balance to make the payment.

He then led them to the bank but upon reaching there, the bank had closed and there was nothing he could do.

This new development forced the agent to report him to the police who arrested him. It was in his statement that he confessed that he had no money in his momo account or his bank account as claimed earlier.

Constable Ernest Agyemang Darko disclosed that the reason for his action was because he owed people money.

He explained that he had borrowed money from these people with the intention of paying them back but he lost all the money to sports betting and since there is pressure on him now he decided to try his luck at the MTN office.
