According to the fourth Ghana Tourism study, the famous Kakum National Park has been overtaken by Aburi Gardens to become the most popular tourist destination in 2022.

Between January and June 2022, the picturesque gardens welcomed an astounding 186,109 people, outpacing Kakum National Park, which came in second with 136,256 visitors.

Aburi Gardens has long been a well-liked destination for nature lovers and those looking for a break from the rush of city life. It is renowned for its beautiful plant displays and tranquil ambiance.

Visitors from both domestic and foreign backgrounds have been drawn to it by its colourful array of exotic plants, brilliant flowers, and scenic walking trails.

While Aburi Gardens grabbed the top spot, other noteworthy locations also saw significant increases in visitors by the midway point of 2022.

With a commendable 114,683 visitors, the Kumasi Zoo, located in the Ashanti Region, took third place.

Following closely was Cape Coast Castle, a somber reflection of Ghana’s history, which saw 86,692 visitors exploring its chambers and dungeons.

Similar to that, the nearby Elmina Castle attracted 72,691 guests who were eager to explore Ghana’s extensive past.

Shai Hills Reserve, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts noted for its magnificent rock formations and diverse fauna, welcomed 48,116 visitors, demonstrating its lasting allure.

Accra Zoo in the nation’s capital entertained 45,825 guests with its diverse collection of animals, while Bunso Arboretum enchanted 40,895 guests with its stunning canopy path and botanical wonders.

The poll also emphasized the cultural attractions that attracted travelers in 2022.

21,139 people showed up at Kumasi’s Prempeh II Jubilee Museum to learn more about the region’s regal past. The museum is committed to preserving the history and legacy of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Additionally, the magnificent Kintampo Waterfalls enchanted 18,231 tourists who went to see this natural wonder, cascading with spectacular splendor.

Ghana is not an exception to the major effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the world’s tourism business.

However, the report emphasizes the better results as a result of the Ghana Tourism Authority’s efforts and actions.
