Chiamaka Ifezue was condemned to death by hanging by an Enugu State High Court for the murder of Ijeoma Nneke, a 27-year-old cosmetics artist.
In a two-hour ruling on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the court presided over by Honourable Justice Kenneth Okpe convicted accused Chiamaka Ifezue guilty of killing the victim by making her consume a deadly substance.
Recall that on November 11, 2020, Ijeoma vanished from her house after departing for a work.

On November 16, her disfigured body was discovered in and around Maryland in the city of Enugu.
In 2022, Ifezue and her brother Chukwuemeka were taken into custody and charged with two counts of conspiracy and murder.
They were charged with coercing Nneke into consuming a lethal beverage.
Her body was allegedly abandoned in the Maryland area of the Enugu city, and the accused covered it with what appeared to be acid.

Judge Okpe dismissed Chukwuemeka during the trial after defence attorney Mr. Chuma Oguejiofor argued a no-case.
The trial judge decided Chukwuemeka should be released since there was insufficient evidence linking him to the crime.
But in handing down the case’s verdict, Justice Okpe stated that the prosecution had proven Ifezue’s murder beyond a reasonable doubt.
The suspect was found to be the cause of death for the 27-year-old cosmetics artist from Enugu, according to the Department of Public Prosecution’s Chinelo Chigbo, who lead the prosecution’s arguments.
The court accepted these arguments. As a result, the court convicted Ifezue guilty of murder and gave her a hanging death sentence.
Police exhibits related to the purported murder of the makeup artist were brought into evidence by the court throughout the trial.
